IVD acted jointly with the TU Darmstadt and the Institute for Internal Combustion Engines and Vehicle Drives (VKM) and was thus able to play a key role in shaping the reorientation with a strong positioning on the topics of future mobility of the facility formerly operated by T\u00dcV Hessen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Technology and Environmental Centre is a state-of-the-art testing and engineering centre that is available to IVD, its customers and research partners for research projects and emission analysis. This is the only way to ensure the balancing act between analysing and certifying current systems on the one hand and future-oriented, high-quality research into sustainable drive systems of the future on the other. The test equipment expands the existing infrastructure of the long-standing partner VKM and the TU Darmstadt and complements it perfectly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fully air-conditioned 4\u00d74 chassis dynamometer with a brake output of 600 kW is highly flexible in terms of its possible applications. In addition to conventional cars, S-Peledecs, motorbikes, electric vehicles and even small commercial vehicles with long wheelbases can be tested. Another highlight is the heavy-duty engine test bench, which can accommodate engines with an output of up to 660 kW. The existing exhaust gas measurement technology fulfils the requirements of the current exhaust gas legislation (EU, Japan, China, RestofWorld) and, in addition to the measuring equipment on the test benches, includes an in-house exhaust gas laboratory. Portable exhaust gas measurement systems (PEMS) enable mobile exhaust gas measurement on the road, as required for tests under RDE conditions. The upgrading of the vehicles is carried out in the in-house workshop, a fully equipped workshop. Evaporative emissions are measured in the in-house SHED chamber on the complete vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Future drives based on e-fuels can be investigated and further developed, as can electrically powered vehicles. The necessary facilities and metrological equipment are available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specific measuring devices have been developed in-house for the further development of purely electric vehicles. Using a so-called ThermoLab, the heat flows in the vehicle are recorded and their distribution optimised with regard to the optimum temperature control of all drive components. Thermal operating strategies can be optimised, tested and integrated into the vehicle's energy management system.
